Organisers of the Great Scottish Run are reminding people coming into Glasgow to check their journeys ahead.

This weekend will be the biggest year yet for the run, with 35,000 people heading to the city to take on the Junior and Mini events on Saturday, and the 10k and Half Marathon on Sunday.

The route for 2026 will be the same as last year, with runners setting off from the start line on St Vincent Street.

Roads will be closed in the city from 07:45 on Sunday morning, with diversions on St Vincent Street, Finnieston Street, the Clydeside Expressway, Paisley Road West, Scotland Street, and Broomielaw for the 10K.

For the half marathon, a full list of road closures can be found on the Great Scottish Run website, and sign posted diversions will be in place.

Marketing Director for the Great Run Company Ollie Griffiths told Greatest Hits Radio: “Most of the runners will be happy that the start line’s at the top of St Vincent Street, at the top of the hill, so you assemble up there instead of running up there, but the rest of the route is the same as last year, and the road closures are the same as well.

“All of that information’s on the Great Run website, for anyone that does want to get some travel tips, and either avoid the closures, or find out the best way of getting to the event and see it or take part.”
