Rangers could face a fight to keep a hold of Danny Rohl for next season.

The German boss was given full backing by chairman Andrew Cavenagh despite finishing third in the Premiership last campaign.

Rohl was expected to remain at Ibrox with planning for next season already underway.

However, German journalist Florian Plettenberg is reporting the 37-year old is a target for RB Salzburg.

He claims the clubs are already in direct contact about the possibility of Rohl moving to Austria and that a solution is being worked towards.

Plettenberg posted on X: "RB Salzburg are pushing to appoint Danny Röhl as their new head coach with immediate effect.

"37 y/o Röhl has already worked for RB Leipzig and could, in principle, envision a return to the Red Bull group. He was also a candidate for a RB head coach position last summer.

"The clubs are already in direct contact as they work on finding a solution."
