Gassama joined from Sheffield Wednesday for a fee of around £2million in the summer and has scored seven times this campaign.

The deal had an obligation to buy in the summer, with The Rangers Review reporting the fee was in excess of £10million.

Danny Rohl's side have turned down the bid as they hope to keep Gassama as a key part of their squad for the title run-in.

Danilo, Clinton Nsiala and Joe Rothwell could all leave before next Monday's deadline.

German striker Ryan Naderi is one of the options being worked on as a potential incoming.
