Pensioner robbed of cash and jewellery by masked gang in Newton Mearns

Detectives are appealing for information after a 72-year-old man was robbed by a masked gang in his home in Newton Mearns.

At around 7.10pm on Monday, 8 April, 2024. three men broke into the house on Broomfield Avenue and stole thousands of pounds in cash, and jewellery.

The suspects made off a short time later in a black Audi A3 or S3.

Detective Inspector Ross Jamieson of Govan Police Station said: ā€œOur enquiries are at an early stage into this robbery to establish more information on the three suspects and the Audi they made off in.

ā€œI would urge anyone who was in the area of Broomfield Avenue on Monday evening who witnessed anything suspicious, or anyone with dash-cam or personal footage to please check back in case they captured anything relevant.

ā€œAnyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 3421 of 8 April. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.ā€
