Fatal New Year's Eve crash leaves one man dead in Argyll

A crash in Argyll has left one man dead and closed the road for 14 hours.

It happened on the A83 near Tarbert around 7:30 yesterday evening.

The 53-year-old male died at the scene and his next of kin are aware.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.

In a statement, Polcie Scotland said: "The A83 is closed at Whitehouse near Tarbert following a one car crash that happened around 7.30pm on Tuesday, 31 December, 2024.

"Emergency services attended and the driver, a 53-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are aware.

"There is a local diversion in place via the B8001, a single track road only suitable for cars, not other vehicles. Road users are advised to avoid the area."
