Fire crews tackle blaze at industrial estate in Motherwell

Police and fire crews are responding to a blaze in Motherwell.

A blaze has broken out at Biggar Road Industrial Estate and they were first called out around 9.37am.

The road is closed at the junction with Bellside Road.

Motorists and pedestrians are being asked to avoid the area.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 9.37am on Tuesday, 27 May to reports of a building fire in Cleland, near Motherwell.

"Operations Control mobilised six appliances to the town's Biggar Road, where firefighters were met by a fire involving an industrial unit.

"Crews remain on scene working to extinguish the fire.

"There are no reported casualties."
