Huge blaze tears through Celtic supporters club and closes Irvine shopping centre
A Celtic supporters club in Irvine has been damaged in a major blaze last night.
The fire started at 1130 last night in the derelict Forum market building which is linked to the main Rivergate Centre on the east bank.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances and two height vehicles to the area and firefighters are working to extinguish a fire affecting a commercial building.
"There are no reported casualties and three fire appliances and one height vehicle currently remain at the scene."
Fire crews were called just after half past eleven and six fire trucks - including 2 high reach ones - were scrambled.
The arcade is the main pedestrian route linking the main part of the town to the railway station.
The Rivergate Centre remains closed.
