Celtic and Rangers handed one-match suspension for Old Firm scenes

Rangers and Celtic have been handed a one match suspension by the Scottish FA for the ugly scenes after March's Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox.
The pair will have to play their next home Scottish Cup game behind closed doors and will need to pay the visiting side for that fixture £100,000.
Another lockout match ban has also been suspended, which would be only triggered if fans engage in unacceptable conduct in any Scottish Cup fixture until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Celtic beat Rangers on penalties in the meeting on 8 March in Govan, after which fans from both sides poured on to the pitch.
A total of 43 arrests have been made in connection with the scenes, one of several cases of crowd trouble in Scottish football in 2026.
Celtic have released a statement in response to the charge. It reads: "We are shocked by this disproportionate punishment for a relatively small incursion by Celtic supporters at a moment of emotion and celebration."
