Cash For Kids West of Scotland appoints new chairman
Central Car Auctions Managing Director, Jason Miller, takes over from Arnold Clark boss Eddie Hawthorne.
Our charity Cash for Kids West of Scotland has appointed Central Car Auctions Managing Director, Jason Miller, as its new chairman.
He's taking over from Arnold Clark Chief Executive, Eddie Hawthorne, who is stepping down from the role after seven years.
The announcement was made at last night's Board of Trustees meeting in Glasgow which was followed by a celebration.
Jason told Greatest Hits Radio: "Having been a trustee and doing the car auctions at Cash For Kids lunches over the years, I feel I have a good idea of how the charity works.
"We need to get back to basics to help people realise this is not just a Christmas charity, it runs all year round.
"I am looking forward to getting started."
Jason has sat on the board for the last 11 years and has supported the charity through Central Car Auctions over the last 25 years.
During his time with the charity, Eddie has helped to raise £15,686,732 to improve the lives of 557,358 disadvantaged children.
Eddie said: "I have seen the many families and children in our local communities who have been affected by poverty, hunger and a lack of opportunities.
"However, I have also seen the huge generosity and kindness of people here in the West of Scotland who are determined to help and make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate than themselves.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for everything they do – they continue to make a huge difference to the lives of so many children and young people.”
