A man's detained on suspicion of attempted murder
A woman is in hospital with serious injuries following a disturbance in Chelmsford.
The incident occurred shortly after 4.30pm on Saturday in an area off Regina Road.
Emergency services arrived to find the woman requiring immediate medical attention due to her injuries.
She remains in a serious condition in hospital, where her loved ones are being supported.
A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder during a police search of the area.
The man was initially taken to hospital for medical treatment but has since been discharged and is now in custody.
Detective Inspector Luke Howard, who is overseeing the investigation, said: “We received a number of calls from members of the public and we’re continuing to build a full picture of the circumstances around the incident.
“We know this incident took place in a relatively public setting and we’d like to thank the people who have come forward to provide witness accounts.W
He added, "We know it involved people known to each other and there was no threat to the wider public.”
