Witham man sentenced to 12 years for attempted murder of woman
Luke Warner pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court
A 35-year-old man from Witham has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the attempted murder of a woman at his home.
Luke Warner pleaded guilty to the charge at Chelmsford Crown Court on 25th June and was sentenced at the same court on 24th August.
The incident occurred on 7th May at Warner's home in Goda Close, Witham, where emergency services responded to reports of a woman having been stabbed in the eye shortly before 5am.
Both the victim and Warner were taken to hospital for treatment following the attack.
Warner has now been jailed for 12 years.
Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe, who led the investigation, expressed her commitment to tackling violence against women, highlighting the seriousness of the case.
“We treat violence against women and girls extremely seriously and this case in particular could easily have been fatal," DCI Metcalfe said.
"I am proud of the work of my team which has ensured Luke Warner was left with no choice but to admit his guilt."
"He now faces the foreseeable future behind bars."
