RAF Wethersfield resident charged after woman allegedly assaulted in Braintree

The man is set to appear in court next month

A 30-year-old man residing at RAF Wethersfield, an asylum accommodation site in rural Essex, has been charged following an alleged assault on a woman in Braintree's Fairfield Road.

The incident was reported around 11.10 am on 28th May, prompting a swift response from authorities leading to the man's arrest.

Ramadhani Matenga faces charges of common assault and criminal damage. He is scheduled to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on 15th July.

The site where Matenga lives is a former military airbase now utilised by the UK government to house single adult men awaiting decisions on their asylum claims.

Authorities have requested anyone with information, CCTV, dash cam, or any relevant footage related to the incident to come forward.
