Three new minibuses will be on the roads across Clacton, Jaywick Sands, and Holland-on-Sea thanks to a government grant scheme.

Tendring District Council gave out more than £180,000 to Tendring Community Transport, Harwich Connexions, and Clacton-based youth support charity UTurn4Support.

The funding for the vehicles is part of the Community Regeneration Partnership, which is a £20 million investment from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

The three new minibuses will help local residents across the North East of Essex, including young people facing challenges accessing vital resources.

In interview with Greatest Hits Radio Essex News, Ivan Henderson, Tendring District Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration, and Tourism, said:

"This is a fantastic opportunity for the free community buses to be able to serve the community for all ages."

"This is a good once in a lifetime opportunity where we've been given government funding under a community regeneration partnership scheme where we have got 15 projects overall across Holland-on-Sea, Clacton and Jaywick."

"This is just part of that investment, more than £180,000 for these buses."

"It's about improving the quality of life experiences for those areas."

"These community buses are a lifeline for many people to have, to be able to get them out of their houses and to actually go to the shops, go meet their requirements."

"One group that provides these bus services, they're doing them with young people and trying to keep them out of gang culture and youth violence."

"These minibuses are just the beginning of this £20 million which we are really pleased to have been given by the government."
