Three men have been convicted for their involvement in a shooting incident in Crays Hill following a detailed investigation by officers from the Serious and Organised Crime Unit (SOCU).

Johnny Smith, 20, Donny Archer, 27, and Nelson Buckland, 21, were found guilty of shooting at a victim in his vehicle on Gardners Lane North in the early hours of 18th April last year.

The attack occurred around 12.30am as part of an ongoing feud between two groups, with a van taking multiple shotgun rounds but fortunately not injuring the driver.

Detectives traced the movements of Smith, Archer, and Buckland, establishing their presence at the scene and connecting them to multiple offences.

The investigation revealed that Archer and Smith had stolen shotguns during a burglary in Steeple Bumpstead, believed to be used in the shooting.

Additionally, the trio stole an Audi S3 in Brentwood, using it for the attack and as a getaway car.

Evidence included internet searches by Archer related to the event and voice messages from Smith's phone anticipating arrest.

Smith, Buckland, and Archer were charged with attempted GBH with intent, possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, and burglary.

Smith faced additional charges of driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Their trial at Basildon Crown Court resulted in guilty verdicts, with sentencing due on 7th May.

Detective Sergeant Steve Robson praised his team's efforts, highlighting their critical role in securing the convictions and preventing further harm.
