Teens arrested after child seriously injured by quad bike in Wickford

A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old have been taken into custody following a hit and run

Essex Police have arrested two teenagers as part of an investigation into a hit and run in Wickford.

Officers were called to Aydon Close at just after 3pm on Saturday March 22 following reports of a collision between a quad bike and a child who was riding their scooter on the pavement. They suffered a serious leg injury.

A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old have now been arrested on suspicion of numerous offences including:

• Causing serious injury by dangerous driving

• Failing to stop after a road accident

• Failing to report an accident

• Driving other than in accordance with a licence

They have both been released under investigation and enquiries continue.
