A 19-year-old woman who died following a suspected dog attack at a property in the Dunmow area of Essex, has been named as Jamie-Lea Biscoe.

Emergency services were called to a home in Long Hide, Leaden Roding at around 10.45pm on Friday 10 April after reports of a serious incident. Paramedics and officers attended the scene, but despite their efforts, the young woman was pronounced dead at the property.

Investigators said Jamie-Lea's fatal injuries are believed to have been caused by a dog.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place on Sunday 12 April as part of ongoing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Police also confirmed that a 37-year-old man from Dunmow has been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control, leading to death. He has since been released on bail while further investigations continue, with a court date set for July.

The animal involved, described as a family pet, has been taken into police possession. Officers believe it may be a Lurcher crossbreed, though specialist testing is being carried out to determine its exact breed.

Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper said: “Our thoughts remain with all those who knew and loved Jamie-Lea. Her young life has been so tragically cut short.

“Our detectives are continuing to work around the clock to establish exactly what happened and specialist officers are continuing to support Jamie-Lea’s family.

“This is unimaginable for her loved ones and friends and, as such, I would ask people to respect their grief and privacy at this extremely difficult time.

“Our officers remain at the scene and anyone with concerns or information can speak with them there or contact us in the usual way.”

Anyone with information about the incident is told to contact police in order to support their investigation.
