Aaryan Agarwal faces charge for offensive Instagram message

A teenager has been accused of sending a racially abusive message to England defender Jess Carter during the UEFA Women’s Championship.

Aaryan Agarwal, 19, allegedly sent the offensive message via Instagram during the Lionesses' quarter-final match against Sweden on 17th July 2025.

The message contained derogatory language directed at the footballer following England's victory.

After the incident was reported, Essex Police arrested Agarwal in September 2025.

He is charged with conveying an indecent or offensive message through communication.

Agarwal is scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 18th August to enter a plea.
