A court has been told of the tragic circumstances surrounding the death of 12-year-old Bobby Bloomfield, who suffered fatal injuries after being hit by a car in Pilgrims Hatch, Essex.

Witness accounts at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court detailed how a 15-year-old, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, allegedly drove the vehicle that struck Bobby.

William Lunnon, 43, joined the teen in facing charges of murdering Bobby.

Prosecutor Rohini Majumdar stated Bobby and his friends were initially approached by Lunnon, who asked them to leave private property.

The group ran, pursued by the defendants in a car driven by the teenager, ultimately colliding with Bobby.

Majumdar alleged the teen then exited the vehicle to assault Bobby before leaving him at the roadside.

Both defendants were remanded, Lunnon in custody and the teen in youth detention accommodation.

The case will proceed to Chelmsford Crown Court on 12th June for preliminary hearings.

Statements released by Bobby's family reflect their grief, describing the loss as their "nightmare."

Essex Police's investigation also resulted in arrests for suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
