Tarpots Junction set to shut for three weeks
24-hour-a-day works will be taking place
The Tarpots Junction in Benfleet is set to be shut for three weeks as "24 hours a day" works take place.
It marks one of the phases that Cadent Gas are undertaking in the area and the road will be closed during the works.
On their website, it says the road closure at the Tarpots Corner Junction will last "for 24 hours a day".
"The road closure will be in place from 85 London Road to the junction of Rushbottom Lane, then from the junction of Rushbottom Lane to 127 London Road. Rushbottom Lane and High Road will remain open for north and southbound traffic, however, lane closures will be in place to prevent traffic from turning right or left turn onto London Road."
They say that to minimise the duration of the works they will be "working 24 hours a day" during this phase with "multiple teams working in shifts."
Buses with routes through the area will be either suspended or diverted during these works.
A road closure is also in place during this phase of the works on Croft Road, with only residential access permitted.
The company say they are installing a "priority gas pipe" in the London Road - whilst on Essex Highway's future roadworks map it also states that they are "replacing the old pipes with new plastic ones which will mean that you'll be ready for greener gas in the future."
Works are currently scheduled to end on the 15th August.
