Stansted Airport's busiest ever year revealed as over 30 million passengers pass through the terminal
2025 was the airport's busiest ever year
London Stansted Airport experienced its busiest year in the airport's history in 2025, as over 30 million passengers went through the terminal.
As the airport prepares to expand, they believe that they can record another record-breaking year in 2026.
Their capacity could increase to up to 51 million passengers, after they secured planning permission.
Ciaran Brannigan, Chief Commercial Officer, said:
"We're really pleased to have hit 30 million passengers in 2025. It was our busiest year ever, and one that we've been building up to over the last couple of years with bringing new airlines in and growing passenger numbers at the airport.
"It's a really exciting period for Stansted. We've already started construction work on our growth with the terminal expansion.
"Last year we opened a new arrivals building, and we are also coming towards the end of kitting out our new security hall."
He said that the airport can expand efficiently:
"That's absolutely our ambition. We aim to retain the facilities within one building.
"We think we can do it all by expanding the current single terminal, which will help with making that customer journey more straightforward."
"We are certainly aiming for growth. We have new routes in place.
"So another year of 30 million plus is definitely on the cards for Stansted next year."
