Southend United investigate allegations of racial abuse at Woking game
Essex Police are also looking into reports of an assault at the game last night
Southend United says its investigating allegations a supporter aimed racist abuse at a Woking player during the game last night.
On the pitch, the National League fixture ended 1 - all with a Martin Dackers goal in the second half salvaging a point for the Shrimpers.
The club says its working with Essex Police to investigate those involved in allegedly shouting offensive comments.
There are also reports of assault and fans invading the pitch during an ill-tempered encounter.
In a statement, club officials said "the Club are aware of a complaint of racism which has been made against one of our supporters."
"We take issues such as this very seriously and we are assisting the police with their enquiries into the allegation.
"Racism is abhorrent and we will take firm action against anyone who is identified as using racist language."
