Man who sexually abused child in Southend sentenced
Victim says Essex Police officer is “one of only two adults I trust” after sentencing.
A man from Southend has been jailed for a total of ten years and 11 months after admitting to sexually abusing a young boy in 2017.
Bradley Grocutt, now 29 and previously of Cromwell Road, carried out the abuse in the Southend area.
Grocutt was interviewed by officers in July 2022 and denied all the offences. He was later charged with digital penetration and two counts of sexual touching.
Appearing at court in July 2025, Grocutt admitted to each of the offences. On 1st October, he was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court to a total of ten years and 11 months. This will include six years and 11 months in custody, followed by a further four years on extended licence. He will be subject to a life-long sexual harm prevention order, meaning he will be monitored for the rest of his life.
If he breaches any of the licence conditions, he will be sent back to prison immediately.
