Essex Police have clarified that reports of disorder in Southend High Street on Sunday, 3rd May, are inaccurate.

According to police, there was no unrest in the area.

Officers on duty carried out a routine stop search involving two men in the High Street, which was resolved without any complications.

Following an incident last Friday, the police have increased patrols, enforced a dispersal order, and utilised Live Facial Recognition technology.

The town centre remained calm throughout Sunday night.

Officers are still present in the area to maintain order.

Essex Police have urged people to rely on information from official channels and avoid spreading false reports that could lead to undue worry.

"We understand that people are concerned, but it's really important we get behind our City," Essex Police said.
