Six charges have been authorised against a man, after an investigation into the supply of Class A drugs in Colchester.

Officers from a number of policing teams continue to respond to recent incidents in the Greenstead area of the city.

As part of this work and to disrupt drug supply believed to be driving wider issues such as anti social behaviour and violence, officers from the specialist Operation Raptor team entered a property on Thursday 16 April.

A man was arrested and drugs, with an estimated street value of around £20,000, were seized, along with £2,700 in cash.

Charges of being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, have since been authorised against Rishik Parmar, 21, of Court Wood Lane, Croydon.

He is also charged with possessing criminal property.

Parmar has additionally been charged with threatening a person with a bladed article in a public place, as part of a separate ongoing investigation into an incident in Eld Lane, Colchester, on 16 October last year.

Officers were called to reports of a man brandishing a knife in the town centre.

He fled before officers arrived, but enquiries have continued since that time.

Parmar is next due to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday 15 May.

Colchester district commander, Chief Inspector Michelle Sparks, said: “We know the harm that drug supply causes in our communities and that it can fuel wider issues such as violence, exploitation and anti social behaviour.

“Our officers are continuing to take robust action to disrupt those involved in the supply of drugs and to address the issues that matter most to local residents.”
