Shoplifter banned from six shops in Harwich and Dovercourt
He admitted ten counts of theft from a shop
A shoplifter has been banned from going into six shops in Harwich and Dovercourt for two years, after admitting to ten counts of theft.
Perry Stearns appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates' Court, where he was made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order.
He also received a two weeks prison sentence, suspended for twelve months, and was ordered to undertake drug rehabilitation treatment.
The 34-year-old of no fixed address was arrested on Sunday 19th July.
Inspector Grant Fryatt, from the Tendring Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Stealing from shops has a significant impact on the businesses affected.
“We’ve worked really hard to tackle this type of crime and in the last year across the Tendring district we’ve reduced shoplifting offences by 20 percent, that’s 220 fewer incidents.
“We’ve also solved more than 110 more cases, which is an increase of 72 percent.
“Thanks to the work of my team, the businesses affected are now protected from Perry Stearn’s behaviour and he can hopefully get the treatment to help him.”
The charges related to incidents between 18 April and 8 July where he targeted a Tesco Express in Ramsey Road, Dovercourt, the Co-op on Harwich High Street, Home Bargains and Argos in Freshfields Road, Parkeston, and the Asda and Co-op in Main Road, Harwich.
