Second dispersal order implemented in Southend to curb anti-social behaviour
Order covers key areas amid concerns of evening disturbances
A new dispersal order has been issued in Southend, with the aim of tackling anti-social behaviour and keeping the public safe.
The order was activated at 1pm yesterday, 11th April, until 1am on Monday morning, 13th April.
It includes Marine Parade, High Street, Western Esplanade, Victoria and Royals shopping centre, as well as Southend Central and Southend Victoria Train Stations.
Local officers are actively patrolling the city centre to enforce the order and address any concerns.
Inspector Penny McQuade, from Southend local policing team, said: “Over the course of this week we have seen large numbers of young people coming to Southend in the evening and committing anti-social behaviour.
"It is not behaviour we will tolerate and if you come to our city centre or seafront to cause trouble and disturb other people visiting Southend then we will use this order to direct people to leave the area or face arrest.
On Friday evening, two individuals were arrested in connection with theft, with one also arrested for assault.
The police urge the public to approach officers if they have any concerns or relevant information.
