Essex Police were forced to put a dispersal order in place in Colchester on Saturday night following reports of anti-social behaviour.

Inspector Gary Derrick said:

"We have received numerous reports of anti-social behaviour this evening.

"These incidents including criminal damage, fighting and public order offences will not be tolerated.

"We have taken this action to enable officers to maintain order by giving them the powers they need to deal robustly and quickly with instances of anti-social behaviour.

"People must be allowed to enjoy their weekend without being disrupted by these types of incidents."

The dispersal order was in place from 9pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday.
