Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds has thanked an Essex charity for the support it offered to a Wrexham FC diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Aiden Waller was diagnosed with osteosarcoma - a rare form of bone cancer - at the age of 12, and had been living with the disease for three years before dying in February.

Waller, from Benfleet, was receiving treatment for the condition by Leigh-on-Sea charity Gold Geese, helping to support him during his fight.

Now, in a surprise video provided to the charity, Reynolds - who had met with Aiden several times before he died - thanked the charity for everything they did to help him during his cancer battle.

The Wrexham AFC co-owner said: "I just want to say thank you for all you do for childhood cancers and fighting the good fight."

He added: "Aiden Waller was a friend of mine, a friend to Wrexham and a friend to many, and he will never be forgotten.

"I'm sending you all my love and all my gratitude for everything that you guys do."

Uploading the video to their social media channels, the charity thanked Ryan for the message adding that, while the dedication may have been towards the charity, the message was to all patients, "because we’re a community and we fly together against children’s cancer".
