Romford man banned from driving after failing to provide breath test following A13 crash
Earlier this year a Ford KA was found overturned on its roof after reportedly colliding with a van
A man has been banned from driving for 18 months after failing to provide a breath test when pulled over by police following a crash on the A13 near South Ockendon.
The collision occurred shortly after 8pm on Sunday 8th June near the A13's junction with the M25.
Emergency services, including police, fire crews, and paramedics, were called to the scene where a Ford KA was found overturned on its roof after reportedly colliding with a van.
The driver of the car, Daniel Shorey, 45, from Highfield Road, Romford, was located in an ambulance nearby, where he told officers he had been returning home from a day out.
Shorey was taken to hospital for treatment and later reported for failing to provide a breath specimen for analysis.
Shorey appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 4th November, where he pleaded guilty to the offence.
He was handed an 18-month driving ban, although this can be reduced by 18 weeks if he successfully completes an approved driving course.
Shorey was also ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and pay court costs.
Head of Essex Police's Roads Policing, Mr Adam Pipe, said:
“Roads Policing Unit officers continue to work to keep Essex’s roads safe and hold those who put others at risk accountable for their actions.
“It’s our duty to ensure that roads are safe and work toward reducing serious collisions.”
There were no reports of injuries to the passenger in Shorey’s vehicle.
