Firefighters in Essex from seven different stations attended the scene of a fire in Clacton in the early hours of this morning.
At around 12:35am crews from Clacton, Dovercourt, Manningtree, Weeley, Colchester, Tiptree and Chelmsford responded to the fire at Easy Mobility Services on West Avenue in Clacton-on-Sea.
Nearby residents were evacuated and those living in the area advised to keep all windows and doors shut due to the amount of smoke coming from the incident.
The fire was under control by 7am this morning (August 18) and an investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
Incident Commander Nick Singleton said: "The fire has been extinguished and crews will remain at the scene to monitor and dampen down any hotspots.
I'd like to say a big thank you to the crews who worked extremely hard to stop the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
As well as a thank you to our emergency services partners for their help, the Premier Inn for providing a refuge centre and local residents for being patient with us while we deal with the incident.
"A fire investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire when it is safe to do so."
In a statement on its website Easy Mobility Services said: "Unfortunately, there has been a major fire at our Clacton showroom.
Thankfully, there were no injuries and the fire service, whom we are extremely grateful to, has extinguished the fire.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers in Clacton, and until we find new premises, please contact our Colchester or Braintree stores for any assistance you need."
A refuge centre for displaced residents was set up by Tendring District Council at Premier Inn Clacton.
