Police investigate fire that destroyed 25 acres of wheat in Lindsell
Appeal for information following significant agricultural loss
Essex Police have launched an investigation following a fire that engulfed and destroyed roughly 25 acres of wheat in Lindsell.
The incident, reported shortly after 12.30pm on Sunday, 19th July, is in its early investigative stages with no arrests yet made.
Officers are pursuing several lines of inquiry and are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in Lindsell between 11.45am and 1pm.
Residents are encouraged to review any CCTV or doorbell camera footage for unexpected people or vehicles.
PC Luke Jones from the Essex Police rural engagement team emphasised the severe impact the fire has had, damaging the field and affecting the owner economically and agriculturally.
He noted the distress caused to local residents and pledged thorough efforts in identifying those responsible.
