Detectives investigating the death of a man in Harlow last December no longer believe his death is suspicious.

Darren Moss, 59, was found injured behind The Rows shortly before 9.15pm on Wednesday 18 December.

Sadly, he died at the scene.

Initial enquiries around the circumstances which led up to Darren being found led police to believe his death may be suspicious and three men were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Inspector Stewart Eastbrook said: “My team has carried out a thorough and exhaustive investigation, but we have not been able to establish how Darren became injured or found evidence that someone else was involved.

“As a result, the three men arrested have all been told they face no further action.

“My thoughts, and those of my team, are with Darren’s family at this very difficult time.

“We will now pass a file to His Majesty’s Coroner.”

Paying tribute to him at the time of his death, Darren’s family said:

“There are no words that can convey the immense loss we all feel at Darren’s unexpected and sudden passing.

“Darren was a charismatic person who had the ability to find humour in everyday life. He made people laugh.

“When asked what the family will remember most about Darren, everyone has said the same: ‘He made me laugh, he was so funny’.

“Although it is difficult today to see beyond the grief we all feel, we will take comfort in the smiles and giggles he gave to us.

“Rest in peace dearest Darren. We all love you.”
