Police appeal in connection with assault in Stanway

Police are asking drivers to check their dash cam footage to see if they have captured footage of a man getting into a car in Stanway.

The man got into the passenger seat of a black MG car, displaying registration LJ75OZY, in the Stanway area on Tuesday (14 April 2026) morning.

Police say the man is described as a white man of large build who was wearing all dark clothing of which the top item of clothing had a hood.

Officers would like speak to anyone who may have information that could help an on-going investigation concerning a serious assault.

They are asking drivers who were in the Stanway area between 6.15am and 7am on the day to check their dash cam to see if they have captured footage of this man, the man getting into the car or the car driving in the area.

Residents and businesses in the area are also being asked to check CCTV and doorbell footage to see if they have captured anything similar.
