A fan of Oasis from Essex has begun working as an impersonator of lead singer Liam Gallagher ahead of the band’s first live show in 16 years in Cardiff.
Glenn Moss, who often gets mistaken for Liam Gallagher, said he performed his first gig as the singer on Thursday after previously being against the idea. He added: "I think I may do some more (work as an impersonator), I think there’s a couple more (opportunities) on the horizon."
Mr Moss, who was waiting for the band’s reunion show, said: "I get stopped all the time"
"As soon as I got here yesterday four people within five minutes stopped me asking if I was him or for a photo."
He explained that he has always dressed in a style similar to Liam Gallagher’s, having grown up during the Britpop era. "I grew up in the 90s, with the baggy parkas and the haircuts and that’s just stayed with me," he said. "That style has never gone out of fashion anyway."
The Oasis reunion tour will start at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Friday, marking the first time brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher will perform together since their split in 2009. The band is expected to play further dates across the UK, Ireland, and internationally.
Fans from across the world have gathered in Cardiff ahead of the show. Some, like Lachlan Weekes and Jayden Helm from Sydney, Australia, have travelled for over a day to attend. Mr Weekes said: "We’ve been planning it forever. We always said that if they got back together, we’d be at that first show." Mr Helm added: "We always said it was worth it to come, we wouldn’t miss it for the world."
Local fans also expressed their excitement. Lawrence Evans, from near Swansea, said Oasis changed his life and inspired him to play music. His son Jimmy said: "I’ve been waiting for this day all my life."
Noel Gallagher was seen arriving in Cardiff earlier in the week, and rehearsals have been heard at the stadium. The reunion follows a 15-year break after Noel quit the band following a backstage fight in 2009.
Oasis will go on to play venues including Heaton Park in Manchester, Wembley Stadium in London, and Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, before touring internationally later this year.
