Newly completed Witham community centre offers modern space for community events
Witham’s new community centre aims to be a hub for sports, meetings, and local events
Braintree District Council has finished constructing a new community centre in Witham, designed to serve as a centre for local activities and events.
The newly completed centre on Haygreen Road was inaugurated with a tour attended by councillors, construction company SEH French officers, and design consultancy Ingleton Wood representatives on 4th September.
Equipped with a hall, kitchen, bar area, changing rooms, and parking spaces, the facility aims to accommodate sports teams, community events, and social clubs.
The £4 million project received funding from Braintree District Council and developer contributions. Councillor Kevin Bowers highlighted the centre's role in enhancing community life.
The legal transfer to Witham Town Council is underway.
Cllr Kevin Bowers, Cabinet Member for Finance, Assets and Performance and Deputy Leader at Braintree District Council, said: “The completion of Witham Community Centre marks an important milestone and represents a significant investment in the town’s future. The new facility will provide opportunities for people of all ages to come together, stay active and take part in community life. We are proud to have worked with our partners and the local community to deliver a high-quality facility that will benefit the town and its residents for many years to come.”
