A motorbike rider has been charged after a high-speed police pursuit in Clacton.

The incident unfolded on 30th July on St John’s Road during a patrol targeting anti-social driving.

A police motorcyclist initiated the pursuit around 1.30pm when the motorbike rider failed to stop.

The chase reached speeds of up to 100mph and concluded safely when the rider pulled over.

Subsequently, Jack Housman, a 20-year-old from Station Road, Clacton, was arrested.

Housman faces charges of failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and driving whilst disqualified.

He is set to appear in Colchester Magistrates’ Court on 9th September.

Temporary Chief Inspector Grant Fryatt commented on the initiative.

"Our work to tackle anti-social behaviour on Clacton’s roads is incredibly important," Fryatt said.

"First and foremost, this work saves people’s lives. But we also know anti-social driving is having a real impact on our community and on how they feel in their town."

"We won’t stand for it and our incredibly skilled police motorcyclists are out across the town to make sure anyone who does drive or ride recklessly will be dealt with."
