Men arrested in Essex charged with people smuggling
The Polish and Italian nationals accused of facilitating illegal immigration
Three men have been charged with people smuggling offences following an investigation led by the National Crime Agency.
Konrad Dabrowski, a 25-year-old Polish national, and Damian Ciuron, a 41-year-old Polish national, were arrested on 1st July by Essex Police in Holland-on-Sea near Clacton.
Both were detained on suspicion of facilitating illegal immigration after a vessel was seen dropping several people off at the shore.
Christian Albano, a 45-year-old Italian national, was arrested at sea by the Border Security Command with support from HM Coastguard, facing the same accusation.
The National Crime Agency charged all three men under section 25 of the Immigration Act (1971).
They are currently in remand and are scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 3rd July.
A fourth person, a 57-year-old Albanian national, remains in custody on suspicion of facilitation offences.
Six individuals on the vessel have been detained for immigration offences and will be processed by Immigration Enforcement.
