A man has been fined £10,000 after admitting being an organiser of an unlicensed music event in East Horndon on New Year’s Eve.

Hundreds of people went to the event at All Saints Church, breaching the Government’s COVID-19 regulations.

A 32 year-old man from Wickford was arrested on suspicion of burglary at Heathrow Airport yesterday (2 February), but is not facing further action in connection with that offence.

He admitted being an organiser of the event and was issued a £10,000 fixed penalty notice.

Four other people have already been arrested in connection with it and have all been released under investigation.

Essex Police is continuing its investigation into the event.
