Man charged after carrying a sword in Shoebury

A man has been charged after being detained in Shoebury for carrying a sword in public.

Essex Police responded swiftly to multiple reports on Monday (17 November) from members of the public who spotted a man walking in the area with the weapon.

Officers arrested Chris Fane, 39, of Saxon Gardens, Shoebury, and recovered the sword.

Fane has been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place and theft.

He is set to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (19 November).
