54-year-old man charged after A12 disruption at Stanway
He's due to appear in court today
A 54-year-old man from Colchester has been charged with wilful obstruction of a highway and intentionally/recklessly causing a public nuisance, after disruption caused the A12 to close for several hours earlier this week.
On Tuesday (October 10), Police were called to the A12 at Stanway after concerns for a man who was on top of a bridge over the road, just after 11:115am.
They managed to get the man to safety and reopened the road just before 5pm, but the road had been closed for several hours.
Police say this was "for the safety of all those involved, including road users."
Simon Graham, of Hunting Gate, was arrested shortly after and has now been charged.
He's due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on today, Thursday October 12.
