Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Witham as woman sustained serious injuries
Police were alerted at 5am on the 7th of May
A man has been arrested by Essex Police on suspicion of attempted murder as part of their investigation into an incident during which a woman sustained very serious injuries.
Police were alerted to Goda Close in Witham shortly before 5am on the 7th May.
All emergency services attended the scene quickly with the woman taken to hospital for urgent treatment.
She remains in a serious but stable condition.
The man was also taken to hospital for injuries, where he also remains in a serious but stable condition.
That man, 35, and from the Witham area, has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe said: “I know the policing response will have been very public and there may be understandable concerns in the community about what’s happened.
“The investigation remains in its early stages given that both people remain in hospital but at this stage, we believe this to be an isolated incident which has taken place between people known to each other and there is no wider threat to the Witham community.
“We’ve spoken to a number of people who have provided information to us and I’m grateful for that.
“We’re now progressing a number of enquiries into the circumstances around the incident and I would ask anyone who has information and has not spoken to us yet to please get in touch.”
