An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a disturbance involving a knife took place on Warwick Drive, Rochford, on Saturday, 13th June.

Police responded to reports at approximately 6.55pm of a man behaving erratically and in possession of a knife.

Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect, and a struggle occurred during the arrest.

A knife was recovered at the scene, and the man was taken into custody on suspicion of criminal damage.

Several officers sustained injuries while making the arrest, but social media rumours that an officer was stabbed are untrue.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
