A man has admitted murdering his mother at their home in Clacton-on-Sea during a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court.

The charge relates to an incident on 21 March at a property in Skelmersdale Avenue. Emergency services were called after a woman was found seriously injured. Despite efforts by paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oliver Grange, 24, of Skelmersdale Avenue, appeared in court on Thursday 26 June and pleaded guilty to murdering his mother, 49-year-old Rachel Dixon. He was arrested at the property following the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood, who led the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Rachel’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. We know this loss is felt widely.”

He added: “I hope the defendant’s decision to plead guilty to this heinous crime will help Rachel’s loved ones as they move forward.”

Rachel Dixon’s family described her as “our beautiful daughter, sister, mother and auntie, who will be greatly missed by all.” They asked for privacy at this time.
