A man has admitted assaulting his brother and the police officer who arrested him.

31 year old Rocky Price of Jesmond Road, Grays, was wanted on recall to prison at the time.

An Essex Police officer was called out to reports of an assault on the 28th of February.

He spotted Price, who matched the suspect’s description, in Lodge Lane. Price ran off but the officer rapidly caught up with him. Price immediately began to struggle, managing to take the officer’s Taser from its holster. However, the officer quickly recovered possession and arrested him.

At Basildon Crown Court Price admitted charges of assaulting a police officer, assault causing actual bodily harm and possession of a firearm – a Taser – with intent to cause fear of violence.

Price is due to be sentenced at the same court on 14 April 2025.
