Lorry fire partially shuts M25 in Essex
The motorway is expected to remain closed for some time
The M25 in Essex is partially shut this morning due to a lorry fire.
The blaze was reported shortly after 3:05am, and the motorway is closed anti-clockwise between Junction 27 (M11) and Junction 26 (Waltham Abbey).
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, leading the response efforts, is supported by National Highways Traffic Officers managing traffic disruptions in the area.
There is no current estimate for when the road will reopen, and delays are expected to extend into morning rush hour.
Fire crews will continue working to extinguish the blaze and make the vehicle safe before recovery can begin.
Specialist recovery will then be required to remove the HGV, followed by inspections of the carriageway and infrastructure for any fire-related damage.
Repairs or clean-up may be needed before the road can reopen
A diversion route has been put in place by National Highways.
