Police are investigating to see whether there is any link between the death of a refuse collector and the injuries he sustained in a crash in Loughton a month earlier.

Officers were called to Alderton Hill on the 10th March to reports of a crash involved a man in his 40s and a car.

The refuse collector was taken to hospital with a broken leg.

Following surgery he was released from hospital but sadly died over a month later on the 20th April.

Police are now looking to see whether there's any link between the injury from the crash and the man's death a few weeks later.

A 62 year-old man from Chingford has been questioned on suspicion of careless driving.

Officers say they appreciate the incident took place some time ago but they are urging anyone who saw the crash or may have dashcam footage to come forward.
