An student in Essex has received over 30,000 signatures on her petition, calling for the creation of AI nude images to be illegal.

Chelsea Ekeh says that AI needs to face further controls, and that those creating inappropriate images should face criminal consequences.

Her petition, on Change.org, has 32,000 signatures.

She says that AI tools are concerning, and that the issue mainly affects women and girls.

"I think it needs to be controlled," Chelsea said, "It needs to be criminalised. I think it should be illegal.

"There are so many people commenting on the petition that this is getting out of hand. It's ridiculous. There needs to be a law surrounding this."

This news comes as the government is looking at banning the social media platform X following concerns over their AI tool 'Grok'.

Chelsea says that AI tools are decreasing people's control of their own image.

"I think it's important for the safety of women, men, children, and myself, that there needs to be some type of control surrounding these AI tools.

"It's ruining careers, and really affecting people's mental health.

"Companies don't want to hire someone who has nude images of them online. And the issue with these images is they look so realistic.

"It's extremely important that someone has control of their own image, because if not, people can just use AI to create situations that are not real.

"If we allow this technology to just get out of hand, people won't have control over their lives.

"It's extremely important that this is under control."

Chelsea thanked those that have supported her online, and those that have signed her petition.
