Investigation launched after bus ends up stuck under Chelmsford bridge
Emergency services were called to Duke Street yesterday afternoon
An investigation has been launched after a bus got stuck under a bridge in Chelmsford.
The First Bus 372 service struck the Duke Street railway bridge at around 5.30pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 20th August 2025) while travelling towards Colchester.
No injuries have been reported.
A spokesperson for First Bus said:
“Yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) we assisted emergency crews and recovery teams following an incident involving one of our service 372 buses hitting the Duke Street railway bridge in Chelmsford as it was travelling towards Colchester.
“We have not been made aware of any injuries, and we will be undertaking a full investigation.”
