A 19-year-old woman, who was fatally attacked by a dog at her home in Dunmow in Essex, sustained serious traumatic injuries to her neck, an inquest has heard.

Jamie-Lea Biscoe was found by her father in an upstairs bedroom on the evening of 10th April, according to court co-ordinator Matthew Austin.

Mr Austin stated that the serious neck injuries were suspected to have been caused by one of the family’s dogs.

A forensic post-mortem examination confirmed neck injuries as the cause of death, with further investigation of histology and toxicology pending.

Essex senior coroner Lincoln Brookes has suspended coronial proceedings following a written request from Essex Police, who are conducting a criminal investigation.

Mr Brookes expressed condolences to the family and friends of Jamie-Lea Biscoe, describing the death as a tragic loss.

Police were called to the property on Long Hide in Leaden Roding at 10.45pm on 10th April, where Ms Biscoe was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog causing injury resulting in death.

He has been bailed until July while investigations continue.

The dog, described as a lurcher cross and a family pet, has been seized, and tests are underway to determine its exact breed.
