Detectives have now confirmed the identities of two men who died in a plane crash near Ongar.

The victims, pilot Dylan Patel, a 26-year-old from Harlow, and his 24-year-old passenger Vamshi Mandala from India, lost their lives when the two-seater Cessna aircraft crashed in a field off Mill Lane at about 12.30pm on 30th June.

The aircraft had departed from North Weald Airfield shortly before the crash during what was expected to be a brief flying experience.

Detective Chief Superintendent Morgan Cronin expressed sympathies, saying, "My thoughts, and those of my officers, are with the family and friends of Vamshi and Dylan as they continue to grieve."

Cronin explained the complexities involved in the formal identification process, acknowledging the efforts of those who responded and investigated, and stressing the importance of preserving the dignity of the deceased.
